A Capella fun, sin and cowboy hats
Things were hopping at the Singing College this past Thursday in Johnson Chapel as the Amherst College Zumbyes put on a great show at their annual winter performance, "Jambo." "Jambo is a huge production. I figure between the14 of us we must have logged roughly 380 manhours since Sunday-that's writing and perfecting the choreo, making the posters, writing the skits, getting the props, and even a little singing on the side. Late nights, that's why they pay us the big bucks," quipped Andrew Barkan '02.
The event marked the first in what should be an exciting semester for a cappella. Route 9, the newest group on campus, hosted its first invitational, "Joyride," on Friday in Buckley; a concert which featured Worcester Polytechnic's Interstate 8 and the University of New Hampshire's Alabaster Blue alongside Route 9. Everyone's favorite group of crazy kids in white, the DQ, will have their annual "Shim Sham" this Friday in Johnson Chapel. The highly anticipated series of spring concerts in Buckley will begin with the Bluestockings on March 30, followed by the Sabrinas on April 7, the Zumbyes on April 21 and the DQ on May 5. Route 9 will be holding their spring concert in Johnson Chapel on April 13.
