"The Stepford Wives" provides chilling social commentary on the drawbacks of a "perfect" society. Directed by Frank Oz, it chronicles the story of Joanna Eberhart (Nicole Kidman), a successful Manhattanite who moves to the chic upper-class suburb of Stepford, Conn. Eberhart soon finds out that there is more to the town than meets the eye. Her determination to find out why all the housewives are so strangely blissful and perfect leads to a shocking discovery. This movie is a remake of the 1975 classic and features many respected actors and actresses in prominent roles. New on DVD this week, it should not be missed.
