Editors' DVD Pick of the Week

Fearing the prospect of graduation? "Reality Bites" deals with the bittersweet story of four friends who tackle the prospects of life after college with hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking results. "Reality Bites" was released in the mid-'90s as a fitting commentary on the life of Generation X-ers. The dialogue is witty and sarcastic, as one might expect, and the cast includes such famous names as Winona Ryder, Ethan Hawke, Janeane Garofalo, Steve Zahn and Ben Stiller. This movie rises above the other movies of the era in the opposites-attract love story that develops between Lelaina (Ryder), an ambitious woman striving to find a career, and Troy (Hawke), a slacker musician. We've all known people exactly like each of these characters, and their stories will resonate with any college student now and even years after graduation.
