Ginger Ninjas, a sustainably powered rock show, will perform at Hampshire College. The Ginger Ninjas play on a mobile stage, using lightweight and super efficient amplifiers, generators and components that allow the show to be sustained completely by bicycle power. The Mead Art Museum will continue its exhibit entitled “Celebrating a Transforming Legacy: Russian Art from the Collection of Thomas P. Whitney, Class of 1937.” This exhibit includes more than 400 works of art dating primarily to the late 19th and first half of the 20th centuries. The exhibit will run through January 4, 2009. Catherine Roberts will speak on “An Equation Runs Through It: River Running on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon and the Role of a Mathematician.” Roberts will describe her work on the development of the Grand Canyon River Trip Simulator, a computer model used to represent environment interactions in outdoor recreation. Andrew McCarthy will give a lecture entitled “Willful Blindness: A Prosecutor Tells Why Terrorism Cannot Be Fought with Prosecutions and Prosecutors,” and will speak about his book “Willful Blindness.” McCarthy is currently the Director of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies Center for Law and Counterterrorism. Mt. Holyoke College English Department and Jewish Studies Program, with The Odyssey Bookshop, present Philip Roth’s Indignation Day!
