Five College Events

Jan. 26: MFA Candidates Group Exhibition Midway Reception, University of Massachusetts, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

This free art exhibit can be viewed January 24 through February 4 in the Student Union Gallery of the Student Union Building. It displays the work of six students in the MFA program, halfway through the program.

Jan. 27: “The Birth of Venus”, Smith College, 7:30 p.m.

This free staged play reading will be held in the Hallie Flanagan Theatre of the Mendenhall Center for the Performing Arts on Green Street. Lisa Meyers ‘11 wrote this play, which centers on love, friendship, and the power of dreams. A full production of the show will be held in May.

Jan. 30: Art to Landscape/Landscape to Art: Paintings and Drawings by W. Gary Smith, Smith College

This is the final day to see this free art exhibition in the Church Exhibition Gallery in the Lyman Plant House. W. Gary Smith’s use of color and various artistic styles, including drawings, paintings, and sculpture make this an unforgettable exhibition.

Feb. 1: Poetry Reading by Lenelle Moise, Smith College, 7:30 p.m.

Lenelle Moise will be performing her fusion-style Spoken Word poetry in the Weinstein Auditorium in Wright Hall. This free reading by the current Poet Laureate of Northampton will be sure to be entertaining for all.
