Plans for the annual junior prom were in full swing 61 years ago as Prom Chairman Stan Williams '41 predicted that the event would set a new record in attendance.

The prom was to feature the return of big band performer Larry Clinton, known as the "Dipsy Doodler," now accompanied by his orchestra-described by swing maestro Glenn Miller as "the best band he's ever had"-as well as the talents of songstress Mary Dugan. Dugan, whose appeal comprised "something else besides a voice," provided a bolster to Clinton's very "danceable" style.

The first floors of most of the frat houses were to be open starting at the intermission of the performance, where food and drinks were served

Custom was to be broken by several houses, who planned to host "informal breakfast parties" following the dance. Ticket prices started at $5.50 per couple, increasing to $6.50 the day before the dance.
