Ask Doc Tyler
By Doc Tyler
Dear Doc Tyler,

My friend has had a thing for this guy for a while now, and we tried to persuade her to pursue him. Now she says that she's not interested in him anymore, but we don't think that's true. Recently, we worked things so that he's really close to finding out about her crush, and we keep trying to get her to go after him, but she seems upset. She wants us to drop the topic, but we think they would really hit it off. What should we do?

Dear Concerned,

The most important thing for you to do now is find out if your friend is really interested in this fellow. If you know what your friend wants, then you will be able to act accordingly. During the single-sex days of my presidency, of course, this sort of problem was not quite so prevalent, that is unless it involved a Smithie. But based on observations I've made among certain collegiate socialites, I'd suggest adopting a more laid-back matchmaking style to avoid jeopardizing your friendship.
