Website of the Week http://www.rinkworks.com/dialect/
By Nick Pedersen, Staff Writer
In the stressful week preceding fall break, you are going to need to give your mind a break every once in a while, and this week's website can help you do so. The Dialectizer, as it is known in electronic circles, is an ingenious device that allows you to view the text of any website in the dialect of your choice. When you visit the Dialectizer, you can select a dialect-Redneck, Jive, Cockney, Elmer Fudd, Swedish Chef, Moron, Pig Latin or Hacker-and then you have two options: you can type in your own text and see how it is changed, or you can type in another website to visit it in its modified form. I recommend the latter course of action. At the Amherst homepage, instead of learning about the Campus Police, you can learn about the Campus Honkey Pigs (if you're in Jive) or the Campus Bobbies (if you're in Cockney). The Daily Jolt's command to "Defy the laws of physics" becomes "Defy the bloomin' lors of physics." It really is quite interesting to see, even if it only provides cheap Internet laughs. So give the site a visit, but try not t'git carried away.
