Last week's terrorist attacks prompted the College to cancel a number of long-planned activities.

Citing a desire to give due respect to both the tragedy and the scheduled celebration, "Coeducation at 25," was postponed until a later date. Keynote speaker Lani Guinier, prominent civil rights advocate and legal scholar, is unlikely to return to a rescheduled event.

"I think it was a good thing that it got canceled," said Alison Squire '04, who was scheduled to read an essay at the event. "Because of what happened earlier in the week, people weren't ready to celebrate."

Last Thursday night's "Jackson TAP" was canceled, along with the '70s-themed Disco Dance, planned as part of the coeducation celebration and cosponsored by SoCo.

Last Tuesday's freshman seminar lecture, with author Barbara Ehren-reich, was postponed indefinitely.

While athletic practices were canceled on Tuesday and Wednesday, class cancellations were left at the discretion of each professor.
