SGO Treasurer/SFC Chair

Travis J. Bristol '03

Hello, my name is Travis Bristol and I am a junior seeking the position of SGO treasurer. I served as a sub-committee chair on the SFC my sophomore year where I worked closely with the 15 organizations in my sub-committee. I attended meetings and spoke regularly with leaders of these organizations because I have always felt that the SFC has been too impersonal. If elected, I will make the SFC more people-oriented, where students will feel welcomed and encouraged to use the SFC to receive funding for their initiatives. I look forward to working for you this semester.

Michael Flood '03

The treasurer of the SGO is responsible for dealing with the budgets of every SFC-funded group. The treasurer works with the Student Finance Committee to appropriately spend the Student Activities Fees that each one of us pays annually. As treasurer, I will be responsive to student needs. I will stay in close contact with club leaders and I will be accountable to every student on campus for allocations the SFC makes. I will make budgets public knowledge and work with clubs to ensure that funding is allocated to serve the largest number of people to the highest degree possible.

Blake Sparrow '04

My name is Blake Sparrow and I'm running for the position of SGO treasurer/SFC chairperson. I'm currently the interim chair and I have the experience necessary to do the job as well as possible. I've allocated the money to the sub-chairs, I've learned how to run the general fund and I've established relationships with the SGO as my class president. If you vote for me as the next treasurer, I can guarantee a job well done. Thanks!

The Library Committee

Matthew Moses '02

Groucho Marx said, "Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read." I like Groucho Marx. And I like libraries. They are good places to read books. I have the experience, energy and ideas to improve our library, to widen the scope of our collection (including acquiring more movies), and to help to enhance the relationship between the library administration and the students, allowing for easier access to the expansive collective we already have. Vote for me because you like books and libraries. And so do I.

Committee on Priorities and Resources (CPR)

Lincoln Mayer '04

The College's budgetary priorities are a reflection of its fundamental values. As a member of the Committee on Priorities and Resources, I would listen to concerns students have about budgetary issues and bring them to the attention of the faculty and the administration. My first initiative relates to the Take Your Professor Out (TYPO) program. TYPO pays for first-year students to take their professors out to dinner and I believe that the College should make the financial commitment of expanding TYPO to all students. I hope I will have the opportunity to represent you on this important committee.
