It is not in the interests of the SFC to deny groups funding, especially groups which encompass such a diverse population as an entire class. That being said, the SFC will strive to support requests for funding made by class presidents as long as they are in the best interests of the class. My class had an idea, and for that, we needed more funding. I came to the SFC as a class president, abstained from the vote, prior to being the elected Treasurer, while still holding a voting seat. The vote was passed unanimously by a member of the senior class, the junior class, and three sophomores.
There was no conflict of interest or anything of the sort that tainted the allocation of funds to the Class of 2004. All decisions regarding that allocation were made without my involvement. Nonetheless, it is obvious to me that people who wish me ill will persistently try to create a cloud of suspicion and scandal over my administration. Those efforts are dastardly, cowardly, and undeserved. Even though there was no wrongdoing on my part, or on the part of the SFC, I recognize that I cannot hold both of my
elected posts without being haunted by false, partisan claims by Mike Flood and his cohorts. I hereby resign from my post as Sophomore Class President, to cut off these unfounded attacks, and to conform with the SGO Resolution of May 2000 that states that no individual can hold more than two posts simultaneously.
