Both investigations are still in progress. "The matter remains under investigation, but no new relative information is available," said Chief of Campus Police John Carter. "We have had two more thefts of audio visual equipment reported to us and may be looking at links between the crimes."
On Monday, Oct. 7 the staff at the Media Center discovered and reported that a Videonics video mixer and a Sony edit controller were missing and that they were probably stolen over the weekend.
"[There are] no leads that I know of. It is in the hands of the campus police now, but I don't think that [the stolen equipment is] going to turn up," said Media Coordinator John Kunhardt.
Kunhardt said that he thinks it is impossible to say at this time if there is a connection between the thefts in the Media Center and the Campus Center. "There are definitely things being stolen," he said. "We should all be aware and lock doors behind us."
Assistant Dean of Students and Director of the Campus Center Sam Haynes is looking to replace the projector. "I am in the process of selecting a new projection system for the Campus Center and hope to have it in place by the end of October break," he said. He estimates that the new projector will cost about eight to ten thousand dollars.
"If the old projector is recovered, we will put it in the front room and keep the old one in the movie theater," Haynes said. "If we ever find the responsible person or party, they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and sent through the campus judicial system as well," Haynes said.
"It is impossible to say what, if any, affiliation the person [or persons] responsible may have to the College," said Carter of the Campus Center projector investigation.
