7:39 p.m., Moore Dormitory: An officer investigated a duress alarm.

October 24, 2002

1:03 a.m., Drew House: Officers investigated a fire alarm activated by cooking in the basement kitchen. Campus police fined residents $100.

3:52 p.m., Fayerweather Hall: An officer responded to a complaint about youths skateboarding.

October 25, 2002

12:32 a.m., Valentine Hall: An officer dispersed a group of students on the third floor and confiscated some alcohol.

3:25 a.m., Seelye House: An officer found an unlicensed keg in the library and fined one student $100.

3:27 a.m., Cohan Dormitory: A resident reported that a window on the north side was smashed when someone threw a pumpkin at it.

October 26, 2002

2:35 a.m., Barrett Hall: An officer on patrol stopped a group of students for carrying a half gallon of alcohol. The officer confiscated the alcohol because the students were not of age to possess it.

2:35 a.m., Stearns Hall: An officer responded to a loud noise complaint on the third floor.

4:03 p.m., Pond Dormitory: Shower steam activated a fire alarm on the second floor.

October 27, 2002

1:20 a.m., Morrow Dormitory: An officer investigated a duress alarm.

1:59 a.m., Davis Dormitory: Officers investigated a fire alarm activated by a basement detector for an undetermined reason. The officers also located two unlicensed kegs in the basement and fined the residents $200.

2:49 a.m., Moore: Officers responded to the first floor where a student was causing a disturbance by yelling in the hall.

11:20 a.m., Converse Hall: A student reported that he was assaulted at 2:30 a.m. He stated that a car with several males in it stopped and that one man asked him if there were any parties on campus. The student exchanged words with the man and then the car left. A few minutes later the car returned and one man got out and punched the student in the face. An officer transported him for medical attention. The matter remains under investigation.

11:20 a.m., Merrill Science Library: An officer investigated a duress alarm.

6:02 p.m., Valentine: Shower steam activated a fire alarm on the second floor.

10:10 p.m., Crossett Dormitory: An officer investigated a duress alarm.

October 28, 2002

2:00 a.m., Moore: Campus police dispatched ACEMS to assist a student who was not feeling well.

4:34 p.m., South College: Campus police dispatched ACEMS to assist an ill student.

October 31, 2002

2:48 a.m., The Waldorf-Astoria: Officers responded to a noise complaint.

7:45 p.m., Coolidge Dormitory: An officer investigated a duress alarm.

11:12 p.m., Hills Lot Officers responded to a disturbance which occurred after the town police shut down a party at a nearby house.

November 1, 2002

12:11 a.m., Seelye: Officers responded to a complaint of people causing a disturbance by running up and down the halls.

12:14 a.m., Stearns: An officer investigated a duress alarm.

12:21 a.m., Seelye: Officers confiscated an unlicensed keg while shutting down an unauthorized party. The officers fined one student $100.

1:05 a.m., James Hall: An officer investigated a duress alarm.

2:34 a.m., Crossett: Officers responded to a complaint about loud music from a first-floor suite.

4:26 a.m., Humphries House: An officer found two unlicensed kegs. The officer fined one student $200.

3:05 p.m., Pratt Dormitory: A resident reported items stolen from his room. The responding officer located the items in the hallway and returned them to the owner.

10:30 p.m., Hampshire College: Campus police responded to a call from an Amherst student who needed medical assistance for a friend. The police dispatched an ambulance to Hampshire.

November 2, 2002

1:05 a.m., Garman House: Officers responded to a report of a fight located between Garman and Porter Houses.

1:07 a.m., Garman: An officer investigated a duress alarm.

5:04 p.m., Pratt: Officers recovered a sign belonging to the town of Amherst.

5:06 p.m., Pond: Officers responded to a loud music complaint and found a student in possession of marijuana. The student also had the room smoke detector covered. The officers fined the resident $100 for the covered detector and filed a complaint with the dean's office for the marijuana possession.

9:10 p.m., James and Stearns: Officers confiscated alcohol from two rooms.

9:54 p.m., Stone Dormitory: An officer who was patrolling near the social dorms found a student with an unlicensed keg. The officer confiscated the keg and fined the student $100.

10:32 p.m., Hamilton House: An officer checked on an unauthorized party and confiscated an unlicensed keg. The officer fined one student $100.

11:14 p.m., Hitchcock Lot: An officer confiscated alcohol from an underage student.

November 3, 2002

12:41 a.m., Plimpton House: A smoke machine activated a fire alarm. Officers fined residents $100.

1:46 a.m., Alumni House: An officer in the area observed an intoxicated female. The officer evaluated her and allowed her to go with friends.

1:51 a.m., Hamilton: Officers towed an illegally parked vehicle.

2:06 a.m., Barrett Hill Road: Campus police arrested Matthew Bires, 18, who is a resident of Stearns, for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. An officer observed Bires operating the vehicle in an erratic manner and stopped it on Barrett Hill Road.

2:25 a.m., Appleton Hall: An officer investigated a duress alarm.

3:58 p.m., Kirby Theater: Campus police dispatched an officer and an ambulance for a medical emergency.
