AAS must fill six spots after recent resignations

The Association of Amherst Students (AAS) will hold elections Feb. 25 to fill six positions.

David Bugge '04E has resigned from his position as President and will not return to campus this semester, according to Vice President Bob Razavi.

Razavi will act as president until a new president is elected.

Jun Matsui, who was the chair of the judiciary committee, also announced her resignation.

Two other positions were vacated by juniors who have gone abroad.

Niti Sardana '05 resigned at the beginning of the semester because she felt that she could not commit the time and energy that was required of her to serve the AAS and her fellor students.

Sean Filiault, formerly a member of the judiciary committee, also resigned. Filiault subsequently transferred to Boston University here he had originally transferred away from in order to attend the College.

Razavi commented that the AAS has taken up more time this year. The senate used to meet bi-weekly, but switched to a weekly meeting when the new constitution took effect at the beginning of last year. "I think it's fair to say that the weekly meeting format lends itself better to being more consistently productive." said Razavi.
