College Visit: Connecticut College holds forum to discuss racial incidents on campus
By Talia Brown, Managing News Editor
After a series of incidents involving racial harassment administrators at Connecticut College canceled classes Feb. 18 to hold a forum to address issues of diversity, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education.

The college's president Norman Fainstein convened the forum at the request of student leaders after a minority student received an anonymous racist phone call. Earlier in the semester, Black History Month posters placed around the campus were defaced with racial epithets, according to The Chronicle. An intercultural group reportedly received a hostile email message earlier this month. At least five other incidents of racist graffiti and vandalism occurred last fall, college spokeswoman Patricia Brink told The Chronicle.

Student leaders at Connecticut presented administrators with a list of demands, asking that the college equip private phone lines with caller ID and make sensitivity training mandatory for faculty and staff members, according to The Chronicle.
