The company petitioned the College six times for permission to transact business on the campus.
The service will continue to complete transactions with students by using main roads, including Route 9, according to Dirty Business employee Michael Hauke.
Dean of Students Ben Lieber cited security concerns as the reason for not allowing the company on campus. "There is the potential for all kinds of problems if we were to give any company in the area [access to the dorms]," said Lieber.
Hauke maintains that his company did not want to actually enter the dorms, but wanted to meet students outside of the dorm, much like food delivery services.
Hauke said that the company has completed over 500 transactions on the campus with over 200 customers. "I think the school should sponsor a laundry service," said Preston Scheiner '04, who has used the service. "I certainly don't think [Dirty Business] should be pushed off campus."
