Trustees meet to discuss financial matters
By Talia Brown, Editor-in-Chief
The board of trustees convened on Jan. 10 at the College. At the meeting, the trustees discussed the financial state of the College and officially approved President Anthony Marx's tenure decisions (see Marx announces tenure decisions, page 1). Javier Corrales, Caroline Goutte and Catherine Sanderson were promoted from the level of assistant professor to associate professor.

The trustees also discussed issues related to the second phase of the campus infrastructure improvements and approved funding for Phase I of renovations to Hamilton House.

According to Marx, the trustees also reviewed the College's investment portfolio, particularly transactions of the Investment Committee's transactions from the last three months of 2003.

"The trustees met with students from the Student Life Committee," Marx said. They discussed community service, among other topics.

The trustees also met with many faculty members, particularly those from the Committee on Educational Policy and the Committee of Six. "They continued the discussion of the socioeconomic diversity of the student body," Marx said. "But there was no action out of that."
