College to celebrate Dr. King's life, legacy
By Megan Klein, Managing News Editor
Throughout the month of February, the College will remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The annual celebration will include three particularly special events to be held throughout the first half of the month.

The festivities will begin on Feb. 5 with a performance by the Howard University Chorale at 8 p.m. in Buckley Recital Hall. "Conducted by J. Weldon Norris since 1973, the Howard University Chorale is a traditional classically oriented ensemble that flexibly blends in the Afro-American repertoire, both historical and modern," according to a press release on the College's Web site.

On Feb. 8, the College will host Ellis Cose, who will speak in Johnson Chapel at 8 p.m. Cose is an author who most recently released "Bone to Pick: Of Forgiveness, Reconciliation, Reparation and Revenge." He is also a columnist and contributing editor for Newsweek, according to the site. "He began his journalism career as a weekly columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times-becoming, at the age of 19, the youngest editorial page columnist ever employed by a Chicago daily," according to the site.

The annual Interfaith Service will feature Henry and Ella Mitchell. The event will be held on Feb. 13 in Johnson Chapel. The Mitchells are educators and authors.

Ella Mitchell is a former dean at Spelman College. Henry Mitchell is the author of several books about preaching, including "Black Preaching" and "The Recovery of Preaching and Celebration of Experience in Preaching."
