The Amherst College Wingman Award
By Student Health Educators
How many times have you heard, "One out of every four women will experience rape or sexual assault in her lifetime" or "Men perpetrate the majority of violent acts against women?"

Quotations like these have helped many campus organizations raise awareness about incidents of rape, sexual assault and sexual disrespect at Amherst. Yet, the rarely emphasized reality is that most men are, in fact, respectful and courteous toward women.

To highlight the guys among us who are consummate gentlemen, this fall the Student Health Educators, Peer Advocates of Sexual Respect and Men's Project have decided to publicly recognize the kindness, compassion and downright sexiness of these fine men.

Is there a man in your life who has recently committed an act of chivalry? Do you know a man who makes women feel safe, respected and beautiful? Write and tell us about him!

Each week we'll recognize another winner who will be named an Amherst College Wingman. He'll get a limited edition Wingman T-shirt and an article printed about him in The Amherst Student.

E-mail she@amherst.edu with your name, your Wingman nominee and a description of the outstanding act attributed to him.
