President
Joshua Stein '08
During my years on the Senate, I've become increasingly frustrated with the role the AAS has grown to play at Amherst. As President, I will tackle three concrete issues: the ambivalence most Amherst students feel towards student government, the complex budgetary process that most students don't understand, and the lack of health care services on campus on weekends. To do so, I will hold school-wide meetings, meet with students and organizations, work with the Treasurer to redefine the budgetary process, and advocate student causes strongly in front of the administration. Last year, at the end of my first term as a 2008 senator, I was given the Mike Ditka Award for outstanding service, fiscal conservatism, and short shorts. As student body president, I pledge to continue my service to the school in at least those three capacities. I will continue to fight for quality programming on campus, including the potential use of a golf cart transport system, campus-wide retreats, spirit weeks, and booze for 21-year-olds at TAPs. Love me, I'm Pat Benson far and away the most reputable gentleman in the Five College area.
Vice President
Raj Borsellino '09E
Throughout my four semesters on the Student Senate, I've done my best to serve as an active channel between the students and the administration. However, there are still many students at this school who feel underrepresented in student government and who, quite frankly, are intimidated by Senate meetings. It's no secret that the AAS is viewed by most on this campus as an ineffective and elite group of students. As Vice-President, I will devote countless hours to making the AAS an open and accessible organization which provides representation to all students, rather than a select few. I appreciate your support.
Treasurer

I am running for Treasurer to continue streamlining the interaction that students have with the AAS. Having served both on Senate and as Budgetary Clerk, I have had first hand experience working with the common problems that arise when working with the AAS. I believe that by combining these two experiences, I will be able to improve the communication and serve as a helpful liaison between the AAS and clubs. With these changes, students will hopefully be able to fully utilize all the services that AAS has to offer.
Judiciary Council Chair
Michael Guttilla '09
I would like to announce my candidacy for Judiciary Council Chair. This past year I served as a member on the Judiciary Committee, where I worked with the other JC members to recognize various clubs, review the constitution, and maintain constitutionality within the AAS. In High School, I resurrected a Student Court that had been idle for over a decade. I also served as the Chief Justice on this court; where many students came with claims of unfair treatment from teachers, ranging from unconstitutional numbers of tests, to absurd and undeserved detentions. I will execute my duties as Judiciary Council Chair with the same enthusiasm as I did this year as a Senator and JC member.
