The Decemberists to Perform at This Year’s Spring Concert
By Sarah Beganskas '12, Managing News Editor
After the debate and controversy over this year’s Spring Concert, the band eventually chosen, MGMT, has declined the offer to perform at the College. The band recently decided to begin recording their new album and will still be doing so on the date chosen for the concert, April 24. “ACPB made sure to verify the availability of all the bands put on the survey before the student vote went out,” said ACPB Concert Chair Christina Martinez ’10. After MGMT declined the bid, the ACPB went through the results of the original poll, eliminating artists in order that were too expensive or unavailable. The next affordable artist was The Roots; however, the band will be performing at Johns Hopkins University that weekend, and the Program Board was unable to change the date of Amherst’s concert. Next on the list was The Decemberists; the band is available and will perform at the Spring Concert on April 24.
