We'll miss you. We hope you'll miss us. Despite our complaints about late nights, delinquent writers and constant server crises as well as our excitement to pass the torch (such as it is), we're not quite sure how we're going to spend the first half of our week. Everyone else might think the paper's done on Tuesday night, but we all know it takes at least half of the day (or more) to wake up.
What we won't be doing with all our free time:
Making phone calls to the administration.
Harassing team captains for quotations.
Wondering where that last letter to the editor is.
Eating upstairs at Valentine ... except when we're lonely.
What we will be doing with our time:
Going to the Hangar for all-you-can-eat wings on Tuesdays.
Reading the paper in Valentine. Just like everybody else.
Attending all of our classes.
Having Sunday dinner with our roommates.
Referring to you only by your lovely office nicknames.
And coming to visit you.
We'd bet it is hard for you to imagine developing friendships like the ones we all made over the course of the past year. It was hard for us to believe too, but here we are, contemplating the future of our Sunday-Tuesdays, but knowing that we'll still pop in to say hi to you (and still visiting with each other too!). We've really enjoyed getting to know all of you, and we hope you aren't too glad to be rid of us.
Good luck. We have so much confidence in your abilities and we know that despite the challenges that sometimes come along, you will do a fabulous job. We'll still be around, at least until we graduate, and we're happy to answer any questions you may (or may not) have. We weren't The New York Times and you won't be either, but hey, it's worth a try!
