With three meets under their belts, both men's and women's golf are well on their way to succesful fall seasons.

At the Williams Invitational, the men's golf team placed ninth in a field of 21 teams. Mark Still '01 led the team with a 73-80-153, which was good for a six-way tie of 14th place.

"Mark has improved with every round," said Head Coach Jack Arena '83.

While Still led the Jeffs at the Williams Invite, a pair of sophomores led the Jeffs in their first two tournaments this year.

In the season opening Duke Nelson Invitational Jude Volek '03 shot a combined 159, to tie for 17th place, and Todd Ballaban '03 shot a 161 to tie for 25th. The Jeffs finished in ninth place.

"Todd has shown the most improvement of any player," said Arena. "He has played well, and has also been the most consistent of our players."

At the Skidmore Fall Classic the Jeffs finished fourth overall with Volek and Ballaban tying for sixth place by shooting a 75 in the one-day event.

"We have been inconsistent as a team," said Arena. "Although we have the ability to win the tournament, we must play well for two days."

The women have played in the Dartmouth Invitational and the Yale Invitational. Against Division I schools the Jeffs have come away with two 11th place finishes.

Leading the Lord Jeffs in the early season has been freshamn standout Kathryn Kuchefsky. At Dartmouth, she shot an 81-87-168 to pace the Jeffs, and the following weekend at Yale she led the way with an 84-90-174, which was good for 34th place.

Jaime Ratner '02 and Katie Gravel '03 have also played well for the Jeffs. Ratner shot a combined 183 at each tournament, and Gravel followed a 180 at Dartmouth with a 188 at the Yale Invite.

The women next play at the Mount Holyoke Invitational, while the men have the NESCAC Tournament. Both events will be held Sept. 30-31.
