Game Of The Week
By by Sports Staff
The men's hockey team will start its season by jumping straight into several NESCAC games. The team opens at home against Connecticut College, but don't miss the team's second home game against Wesleyan University on Nov. 18 at 3:00 p.m. Not only is this game a NESCAC contest, it also counts towards the Little III Championship. Last year the Jeffs finished with a record of 15-6-3, 1-0-1 against Wesleyan. Nick Reiser '01 backboned the team in net, winning NESCAC Goalie of the Week three times and USCHO Defensive Player of the Week once. The offense will be led by forwards Rob Hill '01, Bob Miele '02, Gregg DiNardo '01 and defenseman Jim Smith '01. Miele led the team with 23 points last year, on 13 goals and 10 assists. Hill and Smith both had 20 points, but they got there in different ways. Hill compiled his points on 13 goals and seven assists, while Smith had three goals and 17 assists. Smith was an All-NESCAC First Team selection last season, and he will anchor the defense along with Erich Schramm '03, Ben Kennedy '01 and Darce Swaggert '01.
