GAME OF THE WEEK
The Jeffs play their first home men's basketball game this Thursday against Clark University. Last year Amherst fell to Clark in overtime on a controversial shot at the buzzer. This year they look to change the result. Clark returns its whole team from last year and should be a difficult opponent. The Jeffs will be missing the inside presence provided from last years' graduating seniors-Jackson Collins, Hugh Quattlebaum and Chris Smith-but their experience at the guard positions should carry the team. Tri-captain Brian Daoust '01, fresh off a successful football season, will man the point for the Jeffs, and Tri-captain Eric Kelly '01 will return as the starting shooting guard. Ryan Faulkner '03 who played backup point guard last year will see more time this year. Up front the Jeffs will be anchored by Tri-captain Abe Sexson '01 at center. Pat Fitzsimons '03, Pat Taverna '02, Paul Williams '02 and Steve Zieja '03 all return to the frontcourt and will be counted on to fill in for the departed seniors. Against Clark the young Amherst squad will be put to the test and the game will be a good gauge as to how the Jeffs will fare this season.
