GAME OF THE WEEK:
With four wins to open their season, the young women's basketball team has played impressively. In their next action the Jeffs take on Clark University, a tough non-league opponent, this Saturday, Dec. 9. Clark stole a triple-overtime win away from the men's team last week, so it is up to the women to get revenge for Amherst. The Jeffs only have two upperclassmen on the roster-Co-captains Charlotte Taylor '01 and Hallison Putnam '02-so they have relied heavily on underclassmen in the early going. Sara Bozorg '03 has directed the Jeffs' offense from her point guard spot, and she leads the team with an average of 14.3 points, 4.7 assists and 2.7 steals per game. Freshman phenom Shannon Russell joins Bozorg in the starting back-court, and so far she has added 13 points per game. The Jeffs are anchored down low by Sarah Bergman '04, Sarah Walker '03 and Caitlin Farrell '04. The trio have combined for nearly 30 rebounds and 20 points per game, giving the Jeffs a decided advantage over many smaller teams. Clark is a traditionally strong program, and this year is no different. They have started the season 4-1, and are led by Emily Morgan, who has put up impressive totals of 16.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
