•Bob Miele '02

Miele, a junior on the men's hockey team, has had a breakout season for the Jeffs. A forward, Miele is second on the team with 32 points. During the course of the 2000-2001 campaign, Miele pulled in 14 goals and 18 assists. His record in NESCAC games slightly outshines his record outside of conference games. Within the NESCAC, Miele averages 1.29 points per game and 0.71 goals per game. Outside the NESCAC, Miele continues to shine with 1.28 points and 0.56 goals per game. The Jeffs fell to Middlebury in the NESCAC Tournament finals.

•Steve Zieja '03

Zieja, a sophomore on the men's basketball team, was named NESCAC Player of the Week on Monday following the conclusion of the Jeff's season in the NCAA Tournament. Zieja averaged 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in the Jeff postseason. On the season, Zieja has scored 498 points, just two shy of being the fifth Amherst player to ever break the 500-point plateau in a single season. Zieja led the team and came in fourth in the conference in scoring, averaging 17.8 points per game, and landed at fourth in the NESCAC with 8.6 boards per game.

•Shannon Russell '04

Russell, a standout freshman guard for the women's basketball team, led the Jeffs in points per game during the 2000-2001 season with 13.8 points per contest. Russell also held up the Jeffs from the charity stripe, knocking in a .902 free-throw percentage. Russell also chipped in to this year's team effort with 3.1 rebounds per game and nine blocks on the season. The Jeffs fell to Bowdoin in the finals of the NESCAC Tournament, and then went on to fall to fellow NESCAC school Colby College in the semifinals of the ECAC Tournament on Saturday.
