•Pat Garvey '03

Garvey, a midfielder on the men's soccer team, was all over the field in the Jeffs' 3-0 win over NESCAC rival Conn College. Garvey scored two goals in the game, the first one coming 16 minutes into the first half and the second 4:51 after the halftime intermission, to secure the Jeffs' shutout win over the Camels. The pair of goals were Garvey's first tallies of the season for the Jeffs.

•Beth Sensing '02

The standout goaltender of the women's field hockey team, Sensing was a big key in the Jeffs 4-0 shutout of Conn College on Saturday, part of a big Lord Jeff day in New London, Conn. Sensing was superb in enemy terrain, stopping all five of the Camels' shots on goal. The shutout was Sensing's second of the season and the team's third in as many games. Sensing will lead the Jeffs in action on Thursday at Mount Holyoke.

•Okey Ugwonali '02

Ugwonali, a preseason All-American tailback, was too much for the Hamilton College defense to handle on Saturday. Ugwonali ran for 107 yards on 13 carries in a 24-0 rout of the Continentals. He also rushed for his 11th career touchdown in a Lord Jeff four-play, 34-yard drive in the first quarter. Although he suffered an ankle injury at the tail end of a 71-yard run in the second quarter, Ugwonali should be at full strength for Saturday's game.

•Kathryn Kuchefski '04

A hard-driving member of the women's golf team, Kuchefski was the top performer for the Lord Jeffs at the Yale Invitational in New Haven, Conn., last weekend. Amherst was the only Division III team participating in the tournament and finished 17th out of 17 teams. Kuchefski was a bright light despite the team's overall score, shooting team-low rounds of 87 on both days to finish with a score of 174.
