•Wesleyan University

The women's volleyball team looks to be the class of the NESCAC with their huge win over Amherst. The Cardinals closed out their NESCAC schedule with a record of 9-1, good enough for the first seed in the NESCAC tournament. Laura Cox was named NESCAC Volleyball Player of the Week for her efforts.

•Williams College

Molly Jennings was named NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week because of two impressive performances against nationally ranked opponents, Middlebury College and Amherst. Jennings has six goals and two assists on the year. The Ephs will need her effort to secure a berth in the NESCAC tournament.

•Tufts University

The men's cross-country team finished first among Division III squads in the 2001 New England Championships, held at Franklin Park in Boston. Senior Co-captain J.R. Cruz was the top runner for the Jumbos, finishing in 16th place overall. The race included teams from all NCAA Divisions, and the Jumbos finished 10th overall.

•Bates College

The women's soccer team claimed its second straight 10-win season with a 2-0 victory over Wesleyan University. Junior goalkeeper Kim Martell recorded her seventh solo shutout of the season. Amanda Waterhouse scored 4:44 into the game, followed by sophomore back Catherine Crosby 23 minutes later.

•Bowdoin College

Jarrett Young, a first-year defensive end. was named NESCAC Rookie of the Week for his effort in the 23-14 win against the Hamilton College Continentals. The win was the Polar Bears' first of the season. Young made five tackles and recorded two sacks in the victory.
