Bub's Player of the Week-Cathy Poor '02
By
So now the fall is winding down, and green's turning to gold. But the Amherst women's soccer team is still in the NCAA fold. They surprised some people, had some upsets on the way, and now, a good week later, our Jeffs are still out there to play. And winding down her mission, her final soccer season, is Jeff Tri-captain Cathy Poor, she's getting Bub's for a good reason. Let's start with Endicott, that blowout game last week: Cathy scored twice for us, made Endicott look weak. She also gave us two assists, and a present for herself as well; she broke her own scoring record, and brought her mark to 12. Next game, the Jeffs went to Norton, to take down the Wheaton team; this time the score was 4-1, to extend the Jeffs' championship dream. Finally, we reached the Sweet Sixteen, and Western Conn. did too. But Poor came through twice for the Jeffs, and the final score was one to two. So now the team is on a roll, good things come to those who wait. And suddenly our Jeffs have found their way into the Elite Eight. So head on down to Bub's, Cathy, and have some free ice cream. You deserve it, now go and finish out your senior year supreme.
