Game of the Week: Swimming and Diving vs. Hartwick College
By Sports Staff
When you think of Amherst winter sports teams you usually think of basketball and hockey, but true diamonds in the rough can be found in the men's and women's swimming and diving teams. The teams are having one of their best seasons ever with a 6-1 record for the men's team and a 7-1 record for the women's team, their only losses at the hands of NESCAC swimming power Williams College. Both teams are coming off big wins against NESCAC rival Hamilton College. The women are led by a solid group of freshmen that proved pivotal against Hamilton. One of these freshmen phenoms is Katie Massopust, who won two races on the day with victories in the 1000 and 500-yard freestyles. The men's swim team, on the other hand, is led by an experienced group of veterans such as Steve Shapiro '04 who won the 1000-yard freestyle against Hamilton. So come on down to Pratt Pool to see one of Amherst's best kept secrets in action.
