Bub's Player of the Week: Liz Martin '04E
By Alison White, Contributing Writer
Liz Martin is new here, she's not from the North, but just this past week, to her home Maryland, the lax team set forth. Not exactly to her hometown of Baltimore, but even better, to Salisbury, where the weather couldn't have been wetter. The conditions weren't going to stop this girl though, it soon became apparent she was going to fight through rain, hail, sleet or snow. Indeed, there she seemed to feel right at ease, for with her four goals, she brought Mary-Washington College right to its knees. Helping to bring Amherst's tally to a total of six, one must wonder what else this girl had in her bag of tricks. After this stunning debut, many might have thought that Martin was through. Instead, she felt no need to rest and, three days later, decided to create a new best. She raised the bar another notch, while this time Salisbury University was forced to sit back and watch. Five balls left her stick to the goal, sparking what would be a true Amherst steamroll. Bub's is sad not to have had this kid last year, but it's become obvious that for the next two, she'll be the one to fear. Good work Liz, you've passed your Bubs quiz!
