Bub's Player of the Week: Matt Potter '04
By Alison White, Contributing Writer
Matt Potter's a sophomore, he's not new to the game, but in his second season, he's become deserving of a little glory and fame. Entering the weekend with a .500 average that's the conference's best, Potter was ready to face the ultimate pitcher's test. In the first game of two against NESCAC opponent Midd, hopes of a rival win Matt soon did rid. With three hits mightily leaving his bat, Potter proved that he's a contender who's not to be laughed at. These swings were certainly strong, if you thought they were bunts, you'd definitely be wrong. Rather, his hefty two run double in the fifth inning easily sent Middlebury's outfield spinning. In the second game of the day, things unfortunately did not go Amherst's way. Despite the defeat, Potter proved that his success he could repeat. Matt hit two in the 6-5 game, only adding further to his acclaim. Bub's hopes that this streak will never stop, for if it continues, Amherst should find its way to the top. Best of luck, Matt, just keep on swingin', cause if you do, your praises I'll surely be singin'.
