Bubs Player of the Week: Rachel Holt '05
By Alison White, Staff Writer
Despite the recent terrible spring weather conditions, the women's tennis team still headed off to NESCAC Championship competition. A perennially great team, Amherst arrived at Midd to see if they could stay in such high esteem. It turned out to be a player new to the Amherst game that brought in the most recognition and fame. Rachel Holt's the one to cheer, for she's the NESCAC Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year! A city girl from New York, she must have played since way back, for in addition to her first award, she's also Second Team All-NESCAC. When tournament time came around, it remained to be seen if she would settle, but she fought ferociously, and sure enough, she proved her mettle. She disposed of foes from Tufts, Bowdoin, and Bates, until she lost to a player from a school that everyone hates. Yes, sadly it's true, Rachel lost in the semi's to an Eph that surely goes moo! Amherst finished sixth in the tourney, applause is certainly due, to a Ms. Rachel Holt, Bub's must say, thank you!
