After falling 5-4 to UMass in a midweek match, the Jeffs rebounded against Wesleyan University, a familiar Division III opponent. Last Friday, the Jeffs shut them down with a 9-0 win.

"The win over Wesleyan was a big confidence booster for us," said co-captain Roopali Agarwal '03.

As in their first weekend of the season, the Jeffs did not lose a set in the nine matches on the day. Kristen Raverta '06, who is 3-1 on the season in singles, continued her dominance with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Wesleyan's top-seeded player.

Again, the Jeffs were led more by talent than experience, as they had to make up for the absence of Agarwal due to injury. Sophomores Rachel Holt and Tristan Hedrick picked up straight-set wins in the second and third singles slots, respectively. Holt and Hedrick also teamed up for a win in the first doubles slot.

While the underclassmen dominated the top of the singles bracket, Wallis Molchen '04 and co-captain Paige Lawrence '03 took home wins in the fourth and fifth singles slots. Molchen breezed to a 6-1, 6-4 victory, while Lawrence had the most impressive win of the day, shutting out her opponent.

Erin Murphy '05 finished off the singles play with a tidy 6-1, 6-1 win in the sixth slot.

The Jeffs' doubles play, which has been their weak spot in years past, also continued to come together this weekend. In addition to the 8-2 win by Holt and Hedrick, Lawrence and Raverta combined for a 8-1 win at second doubles, and Murphy and Molchen paired for an 8-4 win.

This weekend the Jeffs head to the Rolex Invitational, an individual tournament held at Bowdoin College.
