Bubs Player of the Week: Jason Wagstaff '05
By Alison White, Staff Writer
When the Amherst football squad headed up to Bowdoin last week, they knew they'd meet a team that was neither meager, nor meek. Despite allowing the Bears' first touchdown since 1999, Amherst didn't stumble, falter or whine. The offense came back, even better than before, by a sophomore they were led-two touchdowns he did score. Wideout Jason Wagstaff had quite a game to remember, Bub's thinks it might be the best in all of September. He gave the Jeffs a solid lead at the end of the first quarter, now he's got some new fans, with Bub's as his biggest supporter. Now that's really great, we're proud of the kid, but soon Jason showed us that wasn't his last scoring bid. He's not just a receiver, don't you forget, Wagstaff also provides Amherst with a special teams threat. Just as Bowdoin punted the ball away, that's when Wagstaff had his field day. Sixty-eight yards down the field he ran, that's how his second scoring bid began. At the end of this run, pay dirt he found, while at the same moment, Bowdoin's hopes hit the ground. All we can say Jason, is to keep this going, cause against Midd next week, we want the same showing!
