Sophomore Carter Hamill extended her season one more week, finishing ninth individually at last weekend's Northeast Regional Championships at Westfield State College to qualify for Nationals this weekend at St. Olaf University in Minnesota.

As a team, the Jeffs finished a respectable ninth place overall in the 38-team field. Five teams from the Northeast region qualified for Nationals, as well as the top nine individuals not on a qualifying team.

NESCAC schools swept the top five places. Williams College dominated the field, finishing first to solidify their high national ranking.

"We knew nationals was a remote possibility so we were not that upset when we did not qualify," said Laurel Kilgour '03, who finished fourth for Amherst and 65th overall.

Juniors Erinn White and Helen Dole finished second and third respectively for the Jeffs. Co-captain Alison Dimon '03 and Jenny Horowitz '06 rounded out the top six.

This year marks Hamill's second consecutive trip to the National Championships. She hopes to duplicate last year's All-American effort.
