After winning its second consecutive NESCAC title last year, the men's basketball team begins its season this weekend in the Ken Wright '52 Invitational. The team, which returns all five starters, is hoping to open its season on a positive note against New England College. With a win, the Jeffs will play the winner of WPI and Johnson State on Saturday. Amherst is led by tri-captain Steve Zieja '03, who is within striking distance of the Amherst career scoring record. Barring a major upset, the team should come out of this weekend 2-0 and ready to contend for both the NESCAC and the NCAA Division III titles.
