Game of the Week: Women's basketball vs. Tufts University
By Jack Greeley, Staff Writer
On Friday night at 7:30, the women's basketball team will square off against Tufts University in LeFrak Gymnasium. The Jeffs carry a 9-7 record into the weekend, while the Jumbos enter the game at 13-2. Amherst is suffering from a six-game losing streak, and Tufts is fresh off their first victory over Bates College since 1995. This is a huge game for Amherst because, despite their winning overall record, they have yet to win a conference game. It is certain that Coach Billy McBride will have the troops fired up, as a win on Friday could ignite a season-salvaging turnaround for the struggling Jeffs. Watch for the Jeffs to rely on leading scorers Shannon Russell and Katie Latham to counter the potent Jumbos. If Russell can get on track early, Amherst has a legitimate shot at coming away with an upset.
