Senior goaltender Heidi Alexander anchored a strong Amherst defensive effort over the weekend to boost the women's hockey team to a 2-0 win over Colby College on Saturday night and kept things close in a tight, 3-0 loss to national powerhouse Bowdoin College on Friday. Alexander stopped all 27 Colby shots in the win and had 33 saves the previous evening. With Alexander on a roll, watch for the women's team to make a run at the final playoff seed.

Sharp-shooting guard John Donovan scored a career-high 22 points on Saturday against Wesleyan University to help the men's basketball team clinch the regular season NESCAC title. Donovan has been huge from beyond the arc of late, going 4-4 on Friday night in a win over Connecticut College and dropping four more triples against Wesleyan. If Donovan retains his touch through the upcoming NESCACs, he will be a postseason force as well.
