Baseball will host Middlebury College in a crucial doubleheader beginning this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hitchcock Field. The outcome of the doubleheader will decide who wins the three-game series, which begins with a game Friday afternoon. The winner of the series will win the NESCAC West and will host the NESCAC playoffs. With a 7-2 record in league play, Amherst is tied in first place with Middlebury. The Jeffs have given an outstanding performance throughout the season, winning all of their three-game sets against Western Division opponents so far. Amherst finished off this past weekend with a flourish, as they swept Sunday's doubleheader against rival Williams College. Middlebury, with a 11-7-1 overall record to Amherst's 15-9, will go up against fierce competition.
