Game of the Week: Field hockey vs. Middlebury
By Jane Sung, Sports Editor
Field hockey, ranked 13th in the nation, looks to continue its undefeated streak this Saturday against Middlebury College. Although tied with Amherst in the overall standings, the Panthers lead the NESCAC with one more win than the Jeffs. Fourth-ranked Middlebury blanked Bowdoin College this past Sunday 2-0 just after defeating Colby College 3-2 the previous day. Middlebury midfielder Missy Krempa put in strong defensive performances and also scored the game-tying goal against Colby. However, Krempa and teammate Char Glessner, the third-leading scorer in the NESCAC, will have to get past Amherst's strong defense and junior goaltender K.C. Cosentino, who boasts the best goals-against average in the NESCAC, a stingy 0.45. A win against the Panthers will put the Jeffs in sole possession of first place in the conference.
