On Saturday, Nov. 8, the junior varsity harriers traveled to Tufts University to compete in the ECAC Championship. The men tied for eighth place with 280 points, while the women finished ninth with 294 points. Cooper Knowlton '07 and co-captain Helen Dole '04, the respective top finishers for each team, will accompany the varsity team to NCAA Regionals next weekend.

Men's Cross Country

"Cooper looked strong throughout the race and burst across the finish for the team's top placing," said co-captain John Stanton-Geddes '04.

For the rest of the men, this race marked the final meet of the season. Several runners ended the season on a high note. "Billy McNitt ['06] had what looked to be one of his best races, catapulting through the woods section in a fast last mile," said Stanton-Geddes.

Women's Cross Country

"Senior co-captain Helen Dole had her strongest race of the season, finishing first for Amherst and in 12th place overall. She'll join the varsity team at Regionals next week and Nationals," said co-captain Erinn White '04.

This meet marked senior Anne McNamara's final collegiate cross country meet. "Anne is great to have in practice and brings a very fun, positive energy to the team," Dole said.

The remaining harriers will head north on Friday for this Saturday's NCAA Division III Regionals in Twin Brooks, Maine.
