Game of the Week: Women's Soccer hosts first round of NCAA tournament
By Jessica Rothschild, Sports Editor
The women's soccer team secured a berth in the NCAA Tournament with a 6-0 win over Bates College in the NESCAC Tournament finals. The women will host Bridgewater State College this afternoon for their first-round NCAA Tournament game. This game marks the team's seventh trip to NCAAs. In 2001, the last time the Jeffs made the tournament, they advanced to the championship game. Bridgewater recently won their fourth MASCAC title and will be competing in NCAAs for the second consecutive year. Though the Jeffs began the season with a mark of 2-2-1, they tied or won 11 of their next 12 matches, culminating in last weekend's six-goal explosion in the NESCAC finals. Ashley Harmeling '05 had a tournament-record three goals in the win.
