The men's basketball team kicks off their season with the Ken Wright Invitational, a tournament that begins this Friday. The Jeffs begin the tournament with a game against Gordon College. The Jeffs haven't played the Fighting Scots in recent years, but coming off a 24-5 (8-1) 2002-03 season, Amherst has high hopes. The Jeffs graduated three of the best players in school history: forward Steve Zieja '03, center Pat Fitzsimons '03 and point guard Ryan Faulkner '03. Despite these key losses, the Jeffs have a strong core of returning players, including senior tri-captain guards John Donovan and Adam Harper, both of whom are two-year starters with considerable experience.
