With Honors: Marissa McGuire '04 and Ali White '04

Senior quad-captain forward McGuire led the women's basketball team to victory at the season-opening Vassar Invitational Tournament, earning MVP honors with a 12-point, 12-rebound, six- assist performance in the Jeffs' 59-40 finals win over Vassar College. McGuire's 12 points came on 5-10 shooting and allowed Amherst to pull away with a 14-point lead at the half. In Amherst's 85-44 trouncing of John Jay College in the opening round, McGuire tallied nine points, nine boards, and five steals.

Ali White

A senior forward on the women's ice hockey team, White leads the Jeffs with seven points after only four games. She was the impetus behind Amherst's 6-4 win over Hamilton College in the team's home opener, finding the back of the net twice. She also scored in a loss to Wesleyan University. In the Jeffs' opening game victory over the Trinity College Bantams, White had a pair of assists. The senior forward is Amherst's active leading scorer. Her performance thus far brings her totals to 26 goals and 30 assists for her career.
