Game of the Week: Indoor track at ECACs
By Sarah Rothbard, Managing Sports Editor
The men's and the women's indoor track teams have had a spectacular winter season thus far. At the New England Open Championships last weekend, the women placed 11th out of 31 teams while the men finished 21st out of 30 teams. The two teams combined to set a whopping four new school records. Junior Carter Hamill broke her own record in the 3000m run while collecting her fifth individual gold with a time of 9.36.50. Co-captain Aly Venti '04 came in not far behind in third place. First-year Shauneen Garrahan also shone for the Jeffs with her fourth-place, school-record-setting finish in the mile. The third new school record came courtesy of sophomore Ariel Haney's 59.02 in the 400m dash. On the men's side, the distance medley relay (DMR) team of juniors Mike Page, Dave Molina and Jack Morgan and senior co-captain Janak Chandrasoma set a new school record of 10:04.46. Many runners for both the men and women have already qualified for the following week's NCAA meet and those who have not will attempt to lower their times at ECACs.
