Game of the Week: Baseball vs. Bowdoin (2)
By Nick Michlewicz, Sports Editor
Coming off a disappointing 1-2 series with Wesleyan and rainouts at Brandeis and Middlebury, the 6-7 Jeffs will look to turn their season around this Saturday against a hard-hitting Bowdoin College squad that boasts a 14-4 (5-1) season mark and two wins over defending NESCAC champion Trinity College. Amherst will look to counter a Bowdoin lineup hitting .326 in 2004 with the two-headed pitching monster of co-captain Duncan Webb '04 and Brian Donahue '07. Webb and Donahue each have two wins and 18 strikeouts under their belts, and boast ERAs of 3.13 and 2.05, respectively. Amherst's hitting attack will be led by first baseman Dave Levinson '06 and senior catcher Tom Sullivan, who is slugging .524 on the young season. Today's non-conference game against defending national champion Eastern Connecticut State will test the Jeffs before Bowdoin.
