Game of the Week: Men's lacrosse vs. Williams
By Scott Ganz, Sports Editor
Playoff position will be on the line as third-ranked Amherst faces seventh-ranked Williams College on Saturday. Williams has a perfect NESCAC record going into the final week of play, but the Ephs will be tested by the best that the NESCAC has to offer in first-ranked Middlebury College and Amherst. Unless Amherst falls to Tufts University this afternoon, a victory over the Ephs will secure second place for the Jeffs, setting up a possible rematch of the 2003 NESCAC final between Amherst and Middlebury in this year's championship game. In non-conference play, Williams' two losses came in a pair of overtime squeakers to sixth-ranked St. Mary's College and 10th-ranked Washington and Lee University. This game is a good opportunity for Amherst to show why it's the number-three team in the nation.
