Game of the Week: Women's soccer vs. Wheaton College
The women's soccer team faces its biggest test of the young season on Wednesday when the undefeated 11th-ranked Jeffs take on the second-ranked Wheaton College Lyons in a rematch of the 2003 NCAA New England Regional Championship game. The defending NESCAC Champions' season came to a halt at Wheaton last year in a 3-2 thriller decided in the closing minutes. Both teams are in top form again in 2004. The Lyons are 9-0 and have won 41 consecutive conference games; star goalie Stacey Kronenburg has not allowed a goal this season. Amherst will be sparked by All-American forward Ashley Harmeling '05, who returned from an injury on Saturday and will look to avenge last year's tough tournament loss. Both squads are led by stifling defenses, so Wednesday's match should showcase a terrific midfield battle.
